My name is Ville and I have worked as a Design Engineer at Pinja's Tampere office since early 2019. I am involved in the overall design of automation and PLC systems and perform automation system startups in customer environments. Project advancement and aftercare are also included in my job.
The versatility of work is absolutely one of the best things. I have received a suitable amount of challenges and responsibilities. Responsibility also brings freedom when you can influence your own work and working hours. It is also great that workmates are skilled and we have in-house specialist networks which you can utilize, when needed.
I applied for a job at Pinja recommended by a friend of mine. I had a very positive view of the work culture and I can confirm that it was correct. People are respected here for who they are and all are on the same footing. We organize many social events, which increase the cooperative spirit and further improve the workplace atmosphere.
The best thing in my job is that I have been able to increase my professional skills in a versatile way and, on the other hand, specialize in areas that interest me!
I studied to be an electronics technician but then I wanted to develop my skills in a more versatile direction. Therefore, in 2014, I started to study automation technology at the University of Applied Sciences in Seinäjoki with electrical and automation engineering as my specialist option.
I completed my internship at Atria where my work included maintenance of electrical and automation systems, development of production lines and technical documentation. In the same and the following year, I worked at Atria during the summer and beside school. My duty was real estate monitoring, which included technical documentation, personal safety development tasks, maintenance of electrical and automation systems, and work related to the refrigeration technology.
The subject of my thesis was Modernization of the BYTRONIC pendulum station’s control system using Beckhoff PLC. The pendulum station was designed for the use of electrical engineering students of the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. I still like it very much to work with Beckhoff products and systems!
After graduating, I applied for a job at Pinja, recommended by a friend, and was employed as a Design Engineer. First, my job included cooperation with sales and marketing, for example, related to quotation calculation, and I was involved in automation system pre-design, specification of automation functions and user interface pre-design.
Today, my duties also include project advancement and aftercare as well as comprehensive design of automation systems, PLC design and system startups. One of the most memorable assignments so far is an automation system modernization, in which I cooperated independently with the customer from the very beginning. In fact, one of the best things is that you can specialize in areas that interest you!
It is nice to come to work and superiors are easy to approach – my good view of the workplace culture has turned out to be correct.
